Henrico County, Virginia, has roughly 40 parks. Before I had kids I had been to precisely one of them.
Then I had babies. Two of them. Not at the same time. And I realized there was a whole crapload of parks in this town that I had never heard of, let alone been to. And very little information online on each of them. This combined with my love of organizing and making lists, and the blog was born.
I am focusing these reviews from a perspective of toddler enjoyment. I rate the safety of the play equipment individually and well as the playground as a whole. I take a plastic grocery bag to fill with trash I can find; this way I can quantify the amount, as well as leave the place just a little cleaner than it was when I found it. I try to be sensitive to how much fun the kids are having that day, and try to imagine it from their eyes.
So while I'm doing all this mostly from a kid's perspective, I still note the other things the park has to offer so we can all try to take in the park as a whole. I'm hoping that new moms, or people new to the Richmond area, or people like me who simply don't get out much, can use this blog as a resource to encourage them to experience different parks.
